Nō reira, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā tātou katoa.

Originally from the UK, I emigrated to NZ nearly fifteen years ago and have lived in Mangere Bridge for the last six years. My daughter attends MBS and is a part of the Kereru whanau. I qualified as a Social Worker with Te Wananga O Aotearoa and I am currently employed by a large social services organisation called Emerge Aotearoa. In my role, I manage a number of community mental health and addictions services for both youth and adults across South Auckland.
In my spare time I’m a Cub Leader with the Mangere Bridge Scout Group and really enjoy working alongside the children to provide them new experiences, growth and challenges. My wife Jasmine is a member of the PTA and I regularly get roped in to help with all the fundraising events.

About Me

Tēna tātou kātoa,
Nō ngā uri o Tūwharetoa, Ngāpūhi me Pākehā āhau. Engari, i tipu ake āhau ki Tauranga Moana. Ko Paul taku hoa rangatira me e Isla rāua ko Iona āku tamahine. He tauira i Te Hiaroa rāua. Ko Piki Diamond āhau.

Our whānau moved to Māngere Bridge when our girls were one month old and the warm and hospitality of the community has kept us here ever since. I bring to our community my knowledge of co-creating Te Tiriti o Waitangi practices and curriculum design as I was an academic developer at AUT for 10-years and have recently returned to my artistic roots as the Māori Partnerships and Strategy Manager at Creative NZ. The mana held within the school that connects it to mana whenua and Te Puea is felt and seek to uphold her staunch and just actions of tiakitanga and manaakitanga which is achieved as we come together, kotahitanga and dream together to grow rangatira of the future. Tīhei mauri ora!

About Me

My daughter is a proud student in Te Hiaroa at Maangere Bridge School and as her parents we support her learning as much as we can, including attending Māori classes at Ngaa Whare Waatea Marae. I am originally from Manchester and moved to Aotearoa in 2004. Most of my career has been involved in disability advocacy and I have governance experience including: the Coalition of Community Law Centres; Auckland Playcentres Association and The Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind.

Konrad Kurta

Parent Representative

About Me

Kia ora! My name's Konrad.
I live just down the road from the school with my wife and two (soon to be three!) children. I'm a born and bred Aucklander, though I've spent much of my adult life living overseas. I love playing music, and I also love sport (especially cricket!).
I work in the not-for-profit sector now, but I spent the best part of seven years teaching in South Korea and Australia. I like to think that means I understand a lot of the practical challenges that come with running a school. Hopefully, that makes me well placed to help serve the school community.
My eldest started at Māngere Bridge School in 2023, and I look forward to helping foster an environment where he and all the other students at the school can thrive.

About Me

I am māmā of four children, an 11 year old and five year old triplets who attend MBS, and proudly of Niuean and Samoan heritage.
A former journalist, I've more than 17 years of experience working in newsrooms such as Tagata Pasifika, TV3, TVNZ and Stuff, and currently work as the GM of Content at Pacific Media Network.
In 2016, my hubby and I founded LifeStone, a memorial business that aims to wrap a korowai of culture and alofa around people in grief while restoring the well-being of the planet through sustainable NZ-made headstones.
